I don’t know when the enormity of the situation started to hit us. Maybe after Jess’s third call to the insurance that told her flat out that they wouldn’t do a thing. Maybe when I looked at the furniture and everything covering the carpet and wondered how I was going to do this alone. I could feel the panic rising, and I tried to head it off by putting my head down and working harder.
I can’t imagine going through what Jess and Tim are dealing with right now. You see the pictures, read the articles, watch the news…but it doesn’t hit home until it’s someone you know. See this blog post by Tim for more information on what is happening in their house, Just make sure you have a box of Kleenex at hand. The flooding in Milwaukee has affected so many families, that it’s almost impossible to avoid letting it affect you too. When we first learned of the devastation that our friends were going through, we were overwhelmed, but knew we had to do something to help. So, we’ve decided to turn our Sun King Brewery Tasting and Tour into a Sun King Tour and Tasting Donation Drive for Jess and Tim.
Their 12-week old daughter, Clara’s bedroom was completely destroyed. Isn’t she cute? She’s the newest little model!
It’s going to take tons of hard work and they’ve just begun to rebuild from the floor up. (literally) . But I think with the help of all our great followers and readers, we can lend a huge helping hand to this amazing family. It’s simple – we need donations. Anything from the following list is a HUGE help. One of our members, Leah, is driving to Milwaukee next weekend to deliver everything we can come up with! Please do all you can – tell your friends, share this on Facebook, Twitter, your own blog, forward an email. Anything we can do to help out this incredible family is appreciated. Jess and Tim are the owners of Teecycle.org – The goal has always been simple: Reclaim the best T-shirts available and make the best use of our resources. It’s a simple and smart solution for being a friend to our environment. Pretty cool, right? $1 from each t-shirt you donate goes towards helping to restore urban rivers and trails.
The tees were in a safe and dry place, but we want to help out with their inventory! For every gently worn, but no long needed or wanted shirt you donate, you will earn an extra entry for our super cool doorprizes. Shirts for MEN, WOMEN or KIDS will work. So, start going through your drawers and closets now and find that classic shirt that you love but just don’t wear anymore. They will go to a great cause!
